1978 TVR Taimar

This 1978 TVR Taimar (S/N 4383FM) is one of 395 ever produced and 70 believed to have been imported to the USA. The model was unique, as it was the first offered with an opening rear hatch, and it was powered by the Ford Capri 3.0L V6 engine. This numbers matching example is in MINT condition, having been re-painted in its original red with a re-trimmed tan carpets and upholstery. The car sees consistent use and is sorted and ready to drive.
The second owner was a British car nut in New Jersey who did most of the restoration work. The car was shown at the TVR Woodwork Convention, where Martin Lilley (the owner of TVR during the M-series era) signed it. The factory alloy "T slot" wheels are in killer condition wearing brand new Vredstein classics and the twin center exhaust is also new having been sourced from a TVR vendor in England. The rear hatch design makes the car much more useable than some of the other TVR’s. No more loading luggage or gear between the seats to the rear compartment. The webasto sunroof is also NOS from England. During the paint work of the car it was sourced as it didnt look right to have a older vinyl with fresh paint!
Like all TVR’s, the interior is a snug fit but this one is much more finished looking than the earlier cars.
The car has always been detailed and maintained. The V6 was rated at 140 horsepower and replaced the Triumph engines in the earlier M-series cars as they would no longer meet US emission requirements. The four-speed transmission shifts great and the engine bay is very clean.
You wont find a nicer Taimar.
